Pinhole Surgical Technique: The rebirth of the noninvasive soft-tissue graft

When evaluating factors that contribute to smile esthetics, one must consider harmony, balance, and continuity of form. Gingival architecture forms the foundation for tooth emergence, and when gingival recession is present, it can tarnish the properties of smile esthetics. The main goal when restoring health, function, and esthetics of lost soft tissue due to gingival recession is to accomplish the surgery efficiently with the fewest postoperative complications.

To achieve this, minimally invasive soft-tissue grafting methods were created and continue to advance. Now, we have a new surgical protocol—the Pinhole Surgical Technique—that has taken soft-tissue grafting awareness to a new level.
