 California has introduced a new standard for 100W incandescent lamps, one year ahead of the rest of the USA.
EPA releases final draft of Energy Star Luminaires specification
 The Luminaires specification now has an effective date of October 1, 2011.
CES shows health of LED-based consumer products
 The Consumer Electronics Show, held January 6-9 in Las Vegas, showcased new LED-related TV technologies.
Orb Optronix receives accreditation for testing laboratory
 Orb Optronix is the first EPA-recognized US laboratory to provide independent, third-party evaluation of the lumen maintenance characteristics of LED light sources.

Philips Lumileds mass-producing LEDs on 150-mm wafers
 Lumileds says that it is now producing millions of GaN-based LEDs weekly on 150-mm-diameter wafers, allowing the company to increase its production capacity for power LEDs.
Lextar lights up 6-inch LED wafer
 LED manufacturer Lextar Electronics claims to be the first LED maker in Taiwan to demonstrate blue-light emission from a processed 6-inch-diameter LED wafer.
Nichia appoints Lumitronix as its first-ever LED distributor
By appointing a distributor in Germany, Nichia appears to be moving away from its strictly-regulated, direct-distribution strategy.
