UL acquires Lighting Sciences, Inc.

UL has expanded its capacity for photometric testing of lighting products through the acquisition of solid-state lighting test specialist Lighting Sciences, Inc.

Osram Opto expands LED capacity with 6-inch conversion

$subtitles.get($x) Osram Opto Semiconductors will convert its InGaN-based LED chip-manufacturing facilities in Germany and Malaysia to use 6-inch wafers, achieving a two-fold expansion in capacity.

Lighting Science Group enters L Prize with 60W-equivalent LED lamp

$subtitles.get($x) Lighting Science Group and Light Prescriptions Innovators have developed an LED lamp which they plan to submit to the DOE for L Prize evaluation.

NEMA publishes two solid-state lighting standards

Two new solid-state lighting standards have been released by NEMA, covering LED drivers and dimming of incandescent-replacement LED lamps. The organization has also released an educational guide to energy-efficient lighting.
