Shell, Petronas strengthen gas asset position
Shell Development (Australia) Pty. Ltd. (SDA) says it has signed a strategic agreement with Malaysia's national oil corporation Petronas to strengthen their gas asset positions in Malaysia and Australia.

Lukoil, Pertamina to pursue joint projects
OAO Lukoil and Indonesia's Pertamina have agreed to jointly study several prospective blocks in the Republic of Indonesia.

Swiber to form JV with Vietnamese companies
Swiber Holdings Ltd. has entered into broad cooperation agreements with two Vietnamese companies, PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Co. and the VietSovPetro Joint Venture (VSP).

:: EXPLORATION AND PRODUCTION

First oil from Oyong
Santos Ltd. has begun production from the Oyong field in the Sampang production-sharing contract (PSC), 70 km (43.5 mi) east of Surabaya, Indonesia.

SES Phase II starts gas production
CNOOC Ltd. says production began on Sept. 24 from the second phase facilities of the Southeast Sumatra gas project (SES) from facilities in 30 m (98 ft) water depth about 120 km (75 mi) offshore West Java.

Arthit gas production scheduled for February
PTT Exploration and Production Public Co. Ltd. plans to begin gas production in Feb. 2008 from Phase 1A of the Arthit project in the Gulf of Thailand.

SPC acquires China oil fields
Singapore Petroleum Co. Ltd. has expanded its presence in China with the acquisition of offshore producing oilfields and exploration interests in Bohai Bay.

OVL signs PSC for three deepwater blocks off Myanmar
ONGC subsidiary ONGC Videsh Ltd. has signed a production-sharing contract (PSC) with Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise for three deepwater exploration blocks: AD-2, AD-3, and AD-9. OVL will operate all three blocks with 100% interest.

Roc farms into Vlaming sub-basin
Roc Oil Co. Ltd. subsidiary Roc Oil (WA) Pty. Ltd. has executed a farm-in agreement with Lempika Pty. Ltd., Emphazise Pty. Ltd., and Westralian Petroleum Ltd. for exploration permits WA-381-P and WA-382-P in the Vlaming sub-basin offshore Perth, Western Australia.

TOTAL E&P Indonesie has awarded AMEC Berca Indonesia, a joint venture of AMEC and CCM Group based in Jakarta, design contracts for Tunu Phase 11.

Woodside contracts Enfield to Technip
Woodside Energy Ltd. has awarded Technip a contract for work at Enfield offshore Australia in 550 m (1,804 ft) water depth to recover an existing spool and to replace it.

Helix hires Hallin for India subsea construction
Hallin Marine has completed construction of a new saturation diving system and contracted it to Helix Energy Solutions Group for deployment on the Olympic Canyon offshore India.

Awilco Offshore ASA has contracted Yantai Raffles Shipyard Ltd. to build a semisubmersible.

Orders received by Samsung Heavy Industries exceed $15 billion, a first in the shipbuilding industry, the company says.

First steel cut for Discoverer Americas
First steel has been cut at the Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. yard for Transocean's Discoverer Americas drillship.
