The Industry Technology Facilitator (ITF) has launched two new development projects to help produce maps of hydrocarbon location and thus enable more accurate targeting of reserves.

:: JIP studies effects of noise on marine life
The E&P Sound & Marine Life Joint Industry Program (JIP) recently held a three-day status review to learn what its various studies into the affects of the noise created by upstream operations on marine life have found to date, and to define areas for further study.

:: BRGM, IFP form research partnership
BRGM and IFP have signed a research partnership agreement for the development of software tools dedicated to the study, dimensioning, and monitoring of geological CO2 storage facilities.

:: Western Newfoundland 3D seismic acquisition complete
NWest Energy Inc. says Geophysical Service Inc. has completed a 3D seismic acquisition program offshore western Newfoundland, and that data processing is under way.

:: TGS begins survey offshore Ghana
TGS-NOPEC Geophysical (TGS) is acquiring a new 8,600-km (5,344-mi) multi-client, long offset 2D seismic, gravity, and magnetic data survey offshore West Africa.

:: Canamens to explore off Morocco
Canamens is embarking on a round of exploration offshore Morocco following the award of contracts and agreements with Morocco's Office National Hydrocarbures et des Mines.

Ophir Energy has awarded Fugro a one-year contract for a current measurement project with moorings in water depths of up to 1,700 m (5,577 ft) off the Tanzania coast.

:: TGS to acquire DeSoto Canyon 3D survey
TGS-NOPEC Geophysical is acquiring a new 6,900 sq km (2,664 sq mi) multi-client 3D survey in the DeSoto Canyon area of the Gulf of Mexico.

:: Elixir gets Leopard prospect license term extension
The UK Department of Energy and Climate Change has agreed to a four-month extension of Elixir Petroleum's license term on block 211/18b (Leopard prospect) to April 21.
