:: Troms II survey awarded
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has contracted a seabed logging survey of the Troms II area offshore northern Norway to Electromagnetic Geoservices AS. It will be applied off the Lofoten Islands, which recently was authorized for potential licensing by the Storting.

:: Offshore Malta data acquisition contracted
RWE Dea AG, as operator, has contracted Fugro to acquire 700 km of 2D seismic over blocks 4 and 5, area 3, offshore Malta.

:: Seismic program off Ireland completed
The successful conclusion of a seismic survey program in the Celtic Sea and St. Georges Channel area of offshore Ireland was reported by Providence Resources Plc.

:: MedOil begins Tunisian seismic interpretation
The data interpretation phase is under way by MedOil Plc. following 3D seismic surveying of the Louza Permit offshore Tunisia.

:: SCAN gets Pakistan seismic survey contract
Some 3,000 km of 2D seismic data offshore Pakistan has been contracted from SCAN Geophysical ASA by GEMS International N.V.

:: 15 new offshore Ireland blocks awarded
Under a licencing option, 15 new blocks offshore Ireland in the Goban Spur area were awarded to a partnership of Providence, as operator with 16%, ExxonMobil E&P (Offshore) Ireland with 80%, and Sosina Exploration Ltd. with 4%.

:: TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION
:: OHM contracts vessel for CSEM tour
Offshore Hydrocarbon Mapping Plc. has chartered the 81 m (265 ft.) survey vessel CS Teneo for a five-month controlled source electromagnetic survey program off northwest Europe, West Africa, and the Falkland Islands.

:: MedOil begins Tunisian seismic interpretation
The data interpretation phase is under way by MedOil Plc. following 3D seismic surveying of the Louza Permit offshore Tunisia.

:: GXT completes ArcticSpan
GX Technology Corp. has completed data acquisition for the Beaufort East and Chukchi phases of its latest basin-scale seismic program, ArcticSpan. The Beaufort East phase will provide high-resolution subsurface images of prospective targets in the Mackenzie Delta region and its contiguous continental margin of the Canada basin offshore Canada. The Chukchi phase will provide a regional 2D seismic framework for the entire Chukchi outer continental shelf area.

:: EQUIPMENT & ENGINEERING
:: Laser hydrocarbon detection system development funded
The UK Department of Trade has contributed funding to the QCSense project which aims to develop a new light source to be used in a spectroscopic detection system that measures trace gas emissions from hydrocarbon reservoirs.

:: Wavefield expands seismic fleet
Wavefield Inseis AS has chartered a vessel, Geowave Master, from Geo ASA. The large-capacity, 3D vessel was chartered for seven years with options up to 17 years.

:: Anadarko, Transocean complete deepest subsea well
Anadarko and Transocean drilled and completed the deepest subsea well in the world, according to the companies.

:: C-NLOPB completes Sydney basin study
The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board has concluded a strategic environmental assessment of the Sydney basin, which contains the three parcels offered in the Call for Bids NL06-2.

:: Husky completes White Rose delineation
Husky Energy Inc. has completed the White Rose 2006 delineation program. The resulting increase in the assessment of recoverable reserves is estimated at 190 MMbbl of oil.

:: Geo Atlantic begins seismic charter
The Arrow Seismic Geo Atlantic multi-streamer seismic vessel conversion has finished and the vessel has begun a charter for Fugro Geoteam AS for seven years.
