Typhoon Koppu displaces FPSO Nanhai Faxian mooring system
Typhoon Koppu hit the Huizhou oil fields on Sept. 14, displacing the FPSO Nanhai Faxian's single point mooring (SPM) system, according to the CACT Operators Group, consisting of CNOOC, Eni, and Chevron. ROV examinations revealed that four anchors and the delivery hose to the FPSO were broken.

Antrim Energy announces Greater Fyne area resource estimates
Antrim Energy estimates the range of total risked prospective resources on it recently acquired blocks 21/24b, 21/24c, 21/28b, and 21/29c in the Greater Fyne area to be 29.7 MMbbl (low estimate), 54.9 MMbbl (best estimate), and 105.5 MMbbl (high estimate).

Bongkot joint venture partners sign gas sale agreement
The Bongkot joint venture partners have signed a gas sales agreement with PTT covering all gas production from the Greater Bongkot South (GBS) field in the Gulf of Thailand. The joint venture is operated by PTTEP (44.45%), with partners Total (33.33%) and BG Group (22.22%).

McMoRan evaluates Blueberry Hill prospect potential
On March 29, McMoRan re-entered a previously existing wellbore and began sidetracking operations at the Blueberry Hill deep gas prospect on Louisiana State Lease 340. The wellbore encountered similar resistive zones to the original sidetrack (ST No. 1) well.

ATP provides drilling, production update
ATP Oil & Gas has finished a three-well drilling campaign at Mirage in Mississippi Canyon block 941 and Morgus in Mississippi Canyon block 942. The MC 941 No. 3 well encountered approximately 266 net ft (81 m) of logged hydrocarbon pay.

Te Giac Trang field development plan gains approval
The Ministry of Industry and Trade, on behalf of the Vietnamese Government, has approved the development plan for the Te Giac Trang (TGT) field in the Cuu Long basin offshore Vietnam, according to operator Hoang Long Joint Operating Co. First oil from the field is targeted for mid-2011 and tenders for long-lead items are already under evaluation, the company says.

StatoilHydro to use Veslefrikk field facilities until 2020
The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has granted StatoilHydro consent to use the Veslefrikk field facilities until 2020. Field production was to terminate this year, according to the original plan for development and operations.

3sun completes Cavendish study
3sun has completed an investigation for ODE of low pressure tripping of a combined wellhead control panel (WHCP) and hydraulic power unit (HPU) at the Cavendish gas field platform in the UK Southern gas basin. According to 3sun, there was an underlying problem when certain valves were opened.

Aibel to develop Troll field compressor train solution
StatoilHydro has awarded Aibel a $6-million contract for conceptual development of the Troll A third and fourth compressor trains. Aibel will evaluate capacities, necessary platform modifications, and future compressor reconfigurations.

Subsea 7 wins Casino-Henry field subsea contract
Santos has awarded Subsea 7 an $80-million subsea pipeline and installation services contract for the Casino-Henry field, offshore Australia. Subsea 7’s work scope includes installation of a 22-km (14-mi) long, 12-in. (30-cm) rigid pipeline to connect subsea production trees at the Henry-2 and Netherby locations together with four rigid spool pieces, and installation of a 22-km (14-mi) electro-hydraulic umbilical from Casino-4 to Pecten East.

Wood Group wins Peregrino wellhead platforms contract
StatoilHydro has awarded Wood Group Engineering & Production Facilities Brasil a $50-million contract to provide operations, maintenance, and modification services for the Peregrino wellhead platforms offshore Brazil. Wood Group Brasil’s project scope under the five-year contract includes offshore services and onshore support, plus all production processes and equipment (except drilling services).

Oilfield chemical demand forecast to increase to $10.7 billion in 2013
Demand for oilfield chemicals is projected to increase by 4.4% per year to $10.7 billion in 2013, according to Oilfield Chemicals, a new study from the Freedonia Group. The company predicts that the industry will see a pronounced slump in demand in the short term, followed by significant recovery by the end of the forecast period.

NOAA to build Gulf of Mexico Disaster Response Center
NOAA has awarded Complete Building Corp. a $4.4-million contract to construct the Gulf of Mexico Disaster Response Center in Mobile, Alabama. The facility will be the regional home for the agency’s Office of Response and Restoration, the NOAA organization charged with responding to oil spills, hazardous material releases, and marine debris.
